Victor's Restaurant

Our

STORY

Our journey started back in 1992, my wife and I were dating at the time and our favorite place to eat was any Mexican restaurant where we could find tamales, we’ve always been big tamales lovers and being in the states for so many years and trying so many different ones inspired us to make our best recipe possible for all of our fellow tamale lovers.

That dream became closer to reality when we were able to open my first dream business in 1998, a tire shop named Victors Tires as you can imagine opening this business took a lot of our focus away from tamales for a while, but the idea never left our heads.                                                                                                                                             It started when my wife suggested we start selling chips and drinks on the weekends of course along with some homemade tamales. In Early 2004 we were shut down by the health department because we did not have permission to sell food at Victors Tire. We of course did not let ruin our plans so we went to city to get all paperwork in shape and get permits from the health department. That trip leads us to find out that nowhere in the U.S. was it allowed to have a restaurant and a tire shop at the same location. I remember clearly the expression they told us, “Oil and tamales don’t go together”.

Later that year we were able to get the health department to accept our business, of course complying with all the rules and regulation in place. And in 2004 we opened the doors to our restaurant our main goal was to make, sale and distribute the best tamales in Utah. We served a variety of authentic Mexican food ranging Sopes, Huaraches, Burritos, Quesadillas, Nachos and of course the BEST TAMALES IN TOWN!                                                                                                                                         It’s been a challenging journey, but our happy customers have made it worth it. We make our tamales from scratch; we cook our own grain and make our own mixture with fresh ingredients. We hand make the tamales and cook them daily in the restaurant.

We’ve been lucky enough to be featured in headlines in magazines like Salt Lakes Best, Salt Lake City Weekly, Best of Utah Staff & Readers picks 2017 and even made it to The Salt Lake Tribune Hidden Gems article.
